Remove Fluoride From Your City

Redox media (KDF) reduces fluoride to
a modest degree,
but for nearly thorough removal of
fluoride with a flow-through
filtration system we
have another media
called "Alumina"
available, which is
very effective.
It is included in our multi-7-stage
fluoride removal cartridge.
Alumina is actually
aluminum oxide, made from bauxite, and is a precursor to the aluminum metal. It
appears as a whitish powder.
Alumina is very
successful in removing fluoride from water, and is used for removal of high
fluoride levels in industrial wastewater, as well as for the much lower amounts
of fluoride added to city drinking water. It removes the fluoride almost
completely.
Coincidentally, both fluoride
and alumina come from bauxite,
the ore used in making
aluminum. (Note: "alum" is
commonly used in water treatment
by cities as well.)
There are a few home
drinking water cartridges
that combine alumina with
just carbon. These are usually
expensive and have a short
life. Redox media protects
carbon and lengthens the
life of a water filter
cartridge.
No residual
alumina carries over into the filtered water, but
at a certain point the
fluoride that the alumina removes will reach a
saturation point, and no more
will be removed. A new
cartridge should be inserted
before that point.
Alumina does not have as
long a life as does
redox (neither does
carbon). A good rule for
length of life of the
multi-7-stage fluoride
removal cartridge
would be to use it for a
few thousand gallons.
This cartridge should not
be in service for more than
about a year or so in most
homes without replacement.
As an example, if
you were to go
through 5 gallons of
filtered water per
day, you would use
almost 2000 gallons
in a year. In that
case I would change
this cartridge in
about a year. If
you use less than 5
gallons a day,
you might use this
cartridge for a
little longer.
Our
reverse osmosis
systems also remove
fluoride thoroughly.
Corrected Water Systems
Both reverse osmosis and alumina tend
to produce a more acidic water than
redox and carbon alone. City water already
tends to be acidic from the chlorine, fluoride,
alum and other chemicals added at
the treatment plant.
Such
acidity problems are overcome with
our
Corrected Water
remineralizing alkalizer
cartridge.
We
have developed a heavy duty,
triple
water purifying system
combining a solid carbon block
cartridge in the
first housing, with a
multi-7-stage fluoride removal cartridge
containing alumina, redox and carbon in the second housing,
and a Corrected Water remineralizing alkalizer cartridge in the third housing,
which also slightly alkalizes the
water.
This unique combination of water
treatment media
offers outstanding protection from
fluoride and heavy metals, as well
as the chlorine and other
contaminants in tap water.
The mineral
alkalizer is
essential to
counteract the
unhealthy acidity in
city water as well
as the lower pH from the Alumina
media.
Our "corrected" reverse osmosis
units also include the Corrected
Water remineralizing alkalizer to
add essential minerals back to the
RO water, and to raise the pH to
neutral or slightly alkaline.
Either of these types of water systems
removes fluoride and provides healthy water for
people and other living things.
