Fluoride, Fluoridation, Remove Fluoride, Fluoride in Water

In every state involved, the state legislators overruled the court's finding with new legislation, maintaining fluoridation without regard to common sense.

Children have been seriously harmed and even died from swallowing fluoride toothpaste or mouthwash. A strong overdose of this poisonous fluoride can be deadly.

Also, overmuch fluoride makes teeth and bones brittle. Teeth can become mottled, and eventually more likely to crumble.

Further, fluoride interferes with the uptake of iodine in the system, contributing to thyroid problems.

People who choose to use fluoride can buy fluoridated toothpaste and mouthwash. Although tasteless and odorless, it is harmful and should not be consumed.

Fluoride should not be in our water supplies. Fortunately, certain purifying methods will remove it.

KDF reduces fluoride to some degree, but for more thorough removal we have another media called "Alumina", which is very effective on fluoride.

Alumina is actually aluminum oxide, made from bauxite, and is a precursor to the aluminum metal, usually in the form of a whitish powder. It is very successful in removing fluoride from water, and is used for removal of high fluoride levels in industrial wastewater, as well as for the much lower amounts of fluoride added to city drinking water. It removes the fluoride almost completely.

Coincidentally, both fluoride and alumina come from bauxite, the ore used in making aluminum. (Note: "alum" is commonly used in water treatment by cities as well.)

There are a few home drinking water cartridges that combine alumina with carbon. These are usually expensive and have a short life.

We have a heavy duty, dual water purifying system with a cartridge combining KDF and Alumina in the first housing, and Solid Carbon Block in the second housing. This combination offers outstanding protection from fluoride and heavy metals, plus the other contaminants that might be in the water.

This is the only system I know of that does this. It may be higher in price than the alumina + carbon cartridges others offer, but it is longer in effective life. Still, the KDF & Alumina cartridge should not be in service for more than about a year or so in most homes without replacement.

There is no residual Alumina in the filtered water, but at a certain point the fluoride will reach a saturation point and no more will be removed. A new cartridge should be inserted before that point.

The alumina does not have as long a life as the KDF, but neither does the carbon. A good rule for length of life of this cartridge would be to use it for a few thousand gallons.

As an example, if you were to go through 5 gallons of filtered water per day, you would use almost 2000 gallons in a year. In that case I would change this cartridge in about a year. If you use less than 5 gallons a day, you might use this cartridge for a little longer.

We also have reverse osmosis purifying systems, including whole house units, that remove fluoride effectively.

We offer several choices for good water purification, most of them centered around KDF, because of its unique properties, effectiveness and affordability.

NOTE: KDF is a relatively expensive substance. Our water purifiers have the substantial amount of KDF needed to do a thorough job. There are other brands, some with the same kind of housing as ours, that contain only a small amount of KDF so they may say they have it. These will do a lesser job for a shorter time than ours.

Our KDF & carbon cartridges do a great job for one to two years depending on the volume & type of water processed. The larger the family, or the dirtier the water, the sooner you would change the cartridge.
